poor kid!

being an insta-parent for a cople of weeks isn't all fun and games. the kid is sick. i've filled him up with ibuprofen and apple juice and piled him on the couch with chicken soup, tissues, blannkets, pillows, cough drops, and a big glass of water. he's watching the mummy and will probably talk me into a sequel before i stick him into the bed for the night. the sad thing here is that he's probably not going to get to go sailing with his big brother and harry tomorrow, which blows--i feel bad for him. anyone with good tips for entertaining a sick 10-year-old, feel free to pass them along.

try a product called zicam....the nose swabs are good - it shortens the length of the cold. it's homeopathic...there are adult versions,too....you'll probably end up w/it, too. i've had a throat thing & now bailey has it. colds suck....and summer colds are the worst. :0(

Hmmm...a few rounds of Airborne for you and the hippie. I suspect Baby Brother of the Hippie (so-called to protect his identity) might find a lengthy session of video games to be both palliative and a pleasant distraction :) Sorry to hear that he's sick!

Sorry to hear that he's going to miss the sailing--is Hippie still going? My only suggestion for making him feel better are another movie (or two) and some comfort food. :)

And I second the suggestion of Airborne for the two of you. No need to get yourselves sick after this is all over.

Must be those NC Germs! Bummer to hear that he's out of commission.
I can't really say for the 10 year old set, but for some reason, if I'm stuffed up I go for Hot and Sour Soup. If he has a sore throat, stick to the chicken noodle (or not that you can find it around here, Matzoh Ball Soup).

does he do comic books at all? i second the movies and video games, but my brothers always liked comics as well. i'd also get some 7-up or gingerale - when i'm sick like that, i want something fizzy on my throat. hope he feels better soon, and that you guys don't catch it. kimmie
