mmmm...cupcakes!

cupcake factory sm
yesterday's normal sunday knitting and cooking madness was interrupted by the making of 48 cupcakes for gabriella's fourth birthday party. it's really hard to believe she's almost 4 already! i feel like she was just born about 5 minutes ago. anyway--this is how i spent my sunday morning. i baked the cupcakes and made two colors of green buttercream icing for them. then THK and i decorated them with jelly beans in various green flavors and little flower-shaped candies and dark green writing icing. this was SO MUCH FUN! i admit to taking some cues here from the baking of jane and the fairy cakes in nigella lawson's cookbook, how to be a domestic goddess (thanks aimee!)--i am just glad i had a reason to do some baking of my own. i am also happy to report that in all, i only ate two cupcakes. it could have been a LOT worse!!! :)

in other cooking and eating news, THK made her first roasted chicken the other night--go D!

Wow, those cupcakes look amazing! I thought I was doing well making just 12 chocolate muffins this morning.

I'm so jealous of your house. As my husband says, it will come in time. I can see how decorating and furnishing a new house could be very addicting!

those look great! you've got me thinking about caroline's bday party which will happen in April - any suggestions for a fun cake, or a fun website to find a fun cake receipe? i've checked out familyfun.com, and found a cow cake i could do (maybe mixed in with an Old MacDonald theme), but i'm open to ideas (keeping in mind, jackie, you know my culinary skills are elementary at best, and my baking needs improvement). i'd like something where i can give caroline her own thing to tear into, slobber on, sneeze on, etc. and the other little ones and adults can have something else. thoughts?

Delectible and delightful cupcakes! I gather that Miss Gabrielle loves green. Great job!

flaurella, i asked G what color cupcakes she wanted, and she said, "GREEN!!!" so i said, "just green, or green and some other colors, too?" and her response was "GREEN GREEN GREEN!!!" so--green. 4-year-olds are VERY enthusiastic.
